My parents visited me and Romana in Korea for three weeks. Here are a some of our days and evenings out and about.
DAYs 9 & 10 OF my parents’ 3-week TRIP to Korea
Hiking Wonhyobong
I wanted to take Kevin up one of my favourite mountain hiking spots and Saturday’s air quality was looking pretty good, so off we went by cab to Bukhansanseong Fortress Entrance. I thought a hike up Wonhyobong (one of the Bukhansan mountain peaks) would be a great way to enjoy the air, see some spectacular views, get some exercise and get some good photos. The trek starts easy enough, mostly along a pleasant stream. After the stream section, we need to go pretty much straight up the side of the mountain. It was quite hard work! However, at the top we had some fantastic views into the valley and to the other peaks surrounding us.
After getting back down, we stopped by Bukhansan Play, a coffee shop with a nice outdoor area and, thankfully, some beer!
Mum’s birthday
Sunday was Mum’s birthday. We had a birthday breakfast at my apartment, then went out for some coffee and the nice drip coffee shop nearby. In the evening, we met at my sister-in-law’s house where Romana’s family had prepared a birthday dinner of delicious Korean food complete with birthday cake. Mum also got quite a lot of gifts and some homemade art and writing from the my nieces; very thoughtful and we had a nice time.
