Misudong 354, Dongpirang Village 동피랑 벽화마을

My parents visited me and Romana in Korea for three weeks. Here are a some of our days and evenings out and about.

DAY 8 OF my parents’ 3-week TRIP to Korea

On our final day down south, we packed up and left our cool pension accommodation, and drove a short way into town for some breakfast at Misudong354 (미수동 354) a decent brunch and coffee place next to the canal.

We drove a little bit to what are known as mural villages, places in older rundown neighbourhoods that have been revitalised a little, sometimes successfully, sometimes less so. They are usually in hilly parts of town and revitalising them comes in the form of painting up the buildings with colourful murals, and opening lots of cafes, restaurants and boutiques; basically a form of gentrification. I tried to drive as high as we could to avoid too much uphill walking (it was pretty hot that day!). There was a lot of traffic and we had a bit of trouble finding a parking spot as the automatic carpark wasn’t working properly and let us in without there being a space to park (and we couldn’t leave!). We just waited for someone to leave and we were ready to go.

We wandered down through some of the windy, hilly, colourful alleyways. This was actually my second time here. I took more photos then!

At a suitable spot, we had ice cream before walking back to our car through the market where I spotted a dramatic re-enactment of a scene from Toy Story.

Then there was a drive to Busan, a ride on the KTX back to Seoul (dinner at Seoul Station) then a taxi ride back to our apartment. Phew, long trip! I think we all had a lovely trip in Geoje and Tongyeong and I was happy to share it with my parents and Romana this time.
