This was a fun date with Romana. The Hyundai Card Music Library is a fascinating place where you can explore old and new vinyl. It’s between Itaewon and Hangangjin Station on Line 6.
It’s not entirely straight forward to get in; Romana did all the speaking. However, when you enter the lobby, you ask to go in. You may have to wait. You pay, then get an access card to go into the elevator. It’s all very exciting!
The place is quite large and music is arranged by genre, then name. After browsing, you can check out a few records (it’s a library) then listen on record player with headphones. You need to wait for a player to be available. The staff guide you on how to use a turntable (it’s old tech, essentially).
I got some Marvin Gaye and Bad Brains. Just because. There’s also an archive of Rolling Stone magazine.
Do some research before you go. The building houses other art and design related areas. There’s no telling how it might change in the future. As of 2018, this was good info though.
There’s a coffee shop and lounge in the lobby area which is quite nice, with views across the city.
