Food and beer in Shinjuku, Tokyo

Romana and I spent three days in Tokyo. We explored the Shinjuku area and met up with a friend for beers, spent a day in Koto City at an onsen complex, and visited Tsukiji Fish Market. Food was eaten and fun was had!

Day 1 of our three-day trip to Tokyo
Shinjuku, food and pubs

We arrived Ueno Station at about 15:00 and went hunting for food. We went to a conveyor belto sushi restauant called Ōedo. Next, we headed to our hotel Shin Okubo Sekitei while I arranged a time and place to meet my friend later.

After a short rest, we met in the Shinjuku area and he took us to an izakaya where the maximum time you were allowed at a table was I think 2 hours, and all orders were taken via touchscreens at the tables; very neat! I don’t recall the name of the place, somewhere near The Golden Gai area. We had a good chat and catch up and it was great to see him after so many years. We had met in Seoul and used to drink together and we had many mutual frineds; I’d consider him one of the original group of people I used to hang out with who worked at Wall Street English. After that, he took us to one of the many Hub Bars, a British themed chain of bars around the city; I believe we went to the branch near Shinjuku City Office (again, I didn’t take copious notes and this was before I was blogging my travels). It was a fun evening and many thanks to my friend!

A good start to the trip.
