I only did one section today as it was quite nippy outside and my bed was super cosy! I eventually made the hour subway ride to the trailhead. Trail 11 starts at Gate 4, Sadang Station. However, I had to walk to the end of trail 10 as the ink pad on the stamp was dry a few weeks ago! I had bought an inkpad to take with me in case other pad were dry. It seem that someone had refilled the inkpad since I was there, so I didn’t need it! Anyway, it’s good to have handy.
After this detour, I went back to Sadang Station and got an anchovy kimbap for lunch at Rodeo Kimbap. Then I started properly just after 12pm. The trail goes through a residential area and to Gwaneumsa Temple (관음사). Unfortunately, there was a sign telling people on the trail to take a detour due to potential hazards by a wall. I knew the stamp booth was supposed to be in the section they’d said not to use, so I assumed they’d moved the booth…nope! One I got to the intersection and park at the end of the detour route, I ended up going down in the opposite direction to find the booth and get the stamp. Very annoying. Seems like this detour was completely unnecessary. While I was down there, I looked around the temple which was pretty nice. The tree were nice colours and there were lots of crows and magpies. One crow had a piece of persimmon in its beak and took it to a nest. However, judging by the noises in the tree, a magpie stole it. I saw a magpie a few seconds later with a bit or persimmon in its beak. Hard to miss; they’re bright orange.
Back to the top and then through the Gwanaksan trail which was mainly forest. Occasionally, I’d get to a rocky section and some views north to the city. The route remains the same until you get to Nakseongdae Park (낙성대공원). There, you can visit a place that look like an old house or palace called 관악구전통야외소극장. The garden there is very nice this time of the year.
I continued on west past one of the the entrances to Seoul University (서울대), through some more forest then to another Seoul University entrance, the one near the entrance to Gwanaksan Park. I’ve been to this area lots of times on my way up and down Gwanaksan in the past. It’s a nice area of
