Far north of Seoul, Majang lake makes for a nice stroll/easy flat hike. During the summer, it looks like there are water activities available. On the far eastern side, there’s a coffee shop and convenience stores.
The main attraction is the long, red suspension bridge that spans the lake. There are grates on the walkway; not quite as dramatic as glass, but kind of fun.
A helicopter was collecting water, possible to take it to a fire. It came about four or five times while I was there.
I walked east, past some sets of stairs to coffee shops and campsites, but I didn’t go up. On the far eastern side of the lake, there is a car park and picnic area. I had my packed lunch and was visited by a tame dragon fly that decided my hand was a suitable resting area. I guess I don’t look like a frog… Nearby is a convenience store, and across the way, I noticed Orangerie (오랑주리), a cafe I want to visit.
Map of location
Majang lake is hard to get to by bus (infrequent rural bus times!) so you need some creative planning. For me in hindsight (living in the north west area of Seoul), it might be worth heading to the east side of the lake; take bus 704 to the Bukhananseong area, then change to bus 365-2. It will still take forever! SOCAR is an option too!
