Amazing coastal Haedong Yonggungsa Temple 해동용궁사 Busan

Yonggunsa
Day 2 of a 3-day trip to Busan

Romana and I took a bus from Busan out to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (해동용궁사) for a stroll around. It’s a temple by the sea, north-east of Busan and a popular spot. To get to the temple, you pass a large area with stone pagodas and statues of the 12 Asian zodiac signs. I found mine, Romana found hers!

It was very chilly with lots of wind coming off the sea. We went to the rocky coast for some views of the temple.

There are a number of ways to keep warm; one is to go to a tented area and have a coffee next to a wood stove. The other is to stick your fingers in some lucky golden pigs’ arses…!

Once in the main complex, we saw lots and lots of mini Buddha statues that had been placed around in rocky nooks and crannies. Quite cute looking.

You can bless a Buddha statue with water, bow and your prayers may come true? There was a statue of a dragon too, since the name has dragon in it.

Our next stop was Haeundae beach to visit the aquarium.
