DAY 3 OF 3-DAY TRIP TO BUSAN

We had a huge amount of fun exploring this part of Busan in Korea. Getting there was a fun bus ride up some hilly, narrow roads. The village is a bunch of colourful residences, boutiques, restaurants, galleries, coffee shops and the like, sitting on a hill side. The streets and buildings are covered in interesting murals. It’s a great place for urban photography.

There are a whole bunch of quaint, interesting, colourful buildings to view.

The views of the village a pretty cool from the upper parts of the village. You’re basically looking across to the other side of the village.

We stopped at The Plate (더플레이트) a UK themed pub / cafe that served a mean burger. It was a rickety old building with narrow stairs and a cosy attic space for eating which offered a decent view of the houses below.

One highlight was the Stairs to See Stars walk, a 148 stairs that takes you from the upper parts of the village down through residential areas to the foot of the village. This features narrow streets and a taste of life in such a place. Quaint, I suppose, but also a tough life if you don’t like hills and stairs, and you’re geting on a bit. Very few places to park.

Getting there: We took the 17 or 61 bus south from Busan Station, then transfered at Chungmu Market (충무시장 정류장 승차) to a 서구2 green (마울) bus to go up the hill.
