Daecheongho Lake 대청호 Daejeon 대전

I took a trip to Daejeon for the first time. I did some hiking on Daedunsan and Gyeryongsan the first and third days, and explored parts of Daejeon and the nearby lake on other days.

DAY 4 OF 4-DAY TRIP to Daejeon

I searched Naver maps for a place to find some brunch next to Daecheongho lake (대청호) west of Daejeon. I parked up at one spot and decided to have a short walk to the lake. I didn’t get to the lake, just along the path for a bit as there were farms in the way. The area was very peaceful though with lots of yellow and green in the fields.

I ended up at Cafe Luna (카페루나), a cafe on the second floor of some holiday accommodation (pension 펜션 in Korean). I had a bacon, eggs and coffee breakfast out on the terrace and enjoyed the countryside view. This was the second place I looked at, another contender being Charles Montauk (샤를몽탁); the reason I went to the other place was simply because there were photos of bacon in their listing! (Next time).

Next was to find a place to park up and find a longer stroll next to the lake. I drove south a little way to a place called Tokkbong (토끼봉). It’s a small hill with lakeside paths. I parked then followed part of the Daecheongho 500 league trail(?), course 5 (대청호오백리길5구간(백골산성낭만길)도보코스). It was very pleasant along the peaceful lake. There was a section cut off because of flooding so I went inland a bit to the north. Another section was only accessible by using a set of wood and brick stepping stones.

After getting back to the car, I drove north to another lakeside cafe, Lac Blue (라끄블루) for a nice lunch on the terrace looking over the lake.

I didn’t have any plans for the evening so I decided to take the KTX back to Seoul to meet Romana after work for a dinner date.
