My parents visited me and Romana in Korea for three weeks. Here are a some of our days and evenings out and about.
DAY 14 OF my parents’ 3-week TRIP to Korea
This was our last day in Sokcho together; my parents were going to spend another few days there so we arranged the accommodation and another car for a few extra days. Romana and I had to return to Seoul for work. Today, we visited a nice coffee shop, and visited a windy coastal temple before abandoning them in Sokcho!
We had breakfast and coffee at Cafe Seoraksanro (카페 설악산로). Romana and I had been here once before a few years ago.
After that, we drove to a famous coastal temple called Naksansa (낙산사). It’s quite a large temple complex with coastal sections on cliffs and statues and buildings in the surrounding hills. An impressive place. The coastal walk was very nice though a little windy.
Inland a bit was less windy and we wandered up and around the area exploring various temple halls and statues. There was also a place where visitors have left small stones and a few coins amongst many miniatures of Buddha in various poses.
Our final stop was a restaurant that specialised in mountain vegetable bibimbab, called Jeombongsan Sanchae (점봉산산채). Romana explained the many, many seasoned vegetables on offer!
After that, we did a car swap; refuel our current rental, pick up the parents’ new rental, return the old rental, and then the parents took us to the bus station for our return trip. On the way home, we stopped at a motorway rest area at sunset for a snack. Very picturesque!
