This is the Bongsan & Aengbongsan Mountain part of the trail and is 9.1km. Below is the link to the route on Naver Maps:
Trail 16 naver.me/xY47GWSU
Note: This part of the trail is near my home so I’ve done it quite a lot over the past four years. Therefore this post is a mix of information and photos from previous hikes.

The trail starts from near Gate 3 of Jeungsan Station on Line 6 and goes north west through a residential area. Then you go through a park and exercise area then forest before you get onto the ridge of Bongsan Mountain. The ridge is forested and popular with locals. There are sections just off the Seoul Trail that are relatively new wooden walkways; these run from the base and zig-zag up to the viewpoints at the top. The most impressive thing is that there are NO steps, only rampway: wheelchair access all the way! The wooden decking and views to Bukhansan are quite cool.

The peak of Bongsan is a flat plaza with two stone fire beacons and a pavilion to rest in, There are great views to Bukhansan from here too.

Onwards and towards the end of this section, you can take a slight detour down some another impressive boardwalk to Suguksa Temple, a gold painted temple and temple stay place. It’s home to an impressive looking dog who likes like he’s seen it all!

Back on the trail and you cross the main road over an eco-bridge. I think they are designed to connect nature to places that have been dissected with roads. You go into a park with interesting sculptures made of logs and then up through forest to another ridge. This eventually takes you past Tapgol Eco Park and then you’re back in a built up area. You cross a big road then make your way to Gupabal Station (Line 3) and the start of trail 17.
