Hiking the wonderful Jeju Olle Trail

  • First hike of 2026, started clear and sunny and by the time I got to the peak of #Wonhyobong it was snowing and blowing pretty hard! Saw a few groups of kitty cats and three packs of dogs. One group of dogs was trying to catch a squirrel but of course it ran up a tree. Winter is coming so I guess time is gonna be hard for them.
  • Christmas Day dinner at Playa de San Juan beach. Nice sunset. We WhatsApp’d with family in the UK. Among our meal were canary potatoes and a deconstructed cannoli #playadesanjuan #tenerife
  • Another few winter days! Two visits to Tazacorte. Great seaside town next to huge cliffs and black sandy beach. Wine and pizza by the sea!!
  • Saw Montana de Tejina and the gorge cliff from the Airbnb so hiked it with @khawkes42 Boxing Day morning. Fantastic weather. Really rugged landscape and an impressive gorge to walk atop of then down and through to the other side. The deep shadows of the winter sun meant the photos aren’t clear enough to see the gorge and cliffs that well. Great hike!

  • Stargazing near El Paso on La Palma in the Canary Islands. Pictures don’t do it justice, up there suddenly everything is hi-res! I saw Jupiter! The ground around us was black sand, and there were clouds below us. Bit chilly and driving through clouds on a narrow, unlit, windy road was interesting!

Stargazing near El Paso on La Palma in the Canary Islands. Pictures don’t do it justice, up there suddenly everything is hi-res! I saw Jupiter! The ground around us was black sand, and there were clouds below us. Bit chilly and driving through clouds on a narrow, unlit, windy road was interesting!
