Day 2 of 4-day trip to Jeju
Our second day was a trip to the east coast and one of the main Jeju natural attractions and an evening at a log cabin by the harbour in Seogwipo for some self-service beers and snack in the warm summer evening.
Seongsan Ilchulbong (성산일출봉) is a huge crater atop a rocky hill in the sea. You can take steps up to the top. The whole area is very beautiful with grass lands and flowers in front of the huge rock. You pay a small entrance fee then you walk through the grass area, then make the climb to the top. There are nice views back to the mainland as you go up. At the top you can see the huge green covered crater. No one is allowed to go into the crater, but there is of course a nice view aver and beyond to the sea. One of the photos here is one taken a few years later when my mum and grandfather visited.
Back at the bottom, there are trails going down to the sea where you could get a boat, some seafood, or see the famous Jeju divers, women that harvest seafood from the bottom of the sea.
It’s quite a long drive back to Seogwipo so after a rest, went to Rose Marine (로즈마린) a bar in the harbour. It was like a convenience store with tables inside and out. It was cosy, lively and fun; you get your beers and snacks then sit, chat and drink. For some reason we spent a lot of time taking cheesy photos by the entrance, trying to get photos of the full moon behind us. We didn’t take any photos of us in the bar, so I’ve added some I took when my grandfather and mum came later.
