My new favourite Gwanaksan route taken the second time, and a bit quicker due to knowing the way! I’m posting this because I made a few discoveries about the old sketchy route I used to take, and this time round, I took better photos.
I still had to remember a few sections but made better time. I think I went a few different ways as there were bits that seemed new. but also plenty top remember! I spent more time admiring the trees in the rocks; quite amazing.
The last part of the ascent had a few loose safety poles, I guess on account of the rains. Note to self: don’t rely on them too much! It was moderately busy at the top today.
I spend more time at the top this time revisiting the route to the peak from the difficult side; they have now built a set of stairs so you completely avoid the sheer rock sideways shuffle. This is good to know, because the route coming in from the north and Nakseongdae is a really nice ridge hike. I walked a bit down that way for 10 minutes, just to see and take some video.
I spent a little longer at the big temple on the way down. There was a strange petrol contraption used on the tiny monorail there.
The streams on the way down were nicely flowing and would make nice spots for paddling and picnicking.
