A group of friends decided to head out to Chinatown in Incheon, near Seoul, Korea. The mission? Hang out, eat food and take photos.
There were colourful streets lined with souvenir shops (tat!) and some interesting buildings and structures dotted around, including a small park with roof tiles used as a decorative wall, a hobbit door and the obligatory Chinatown grand entrance.
There were lots of authentic smelling restaurants, and sweet and savoury street food. We stopped at one for some sweet and sour pork (I think).
Outside the main strip was a street of Japanese style buildings. I’m not sure what the history of these are.
We also encountered a bar, the outside of which was covered in beer bottle caps.
Jayu Park (자유공원) is on the hill east of the main part of Chinatown and offers a bit of history, views of the sea, Wolmido (월미도) and the island that Incheon International Airport is located. I didn’t get any shots of those, but the steps and paths leading to the park have cool little statues. If you have a nice camera, you can set up some nice shots.
Mission accomplished I think.
Just a few photos of the group to finish.
