Day 3 of 9-day trip to Japan
We left Osaka took a train to Kyoto, got set up in out cool Airbnb, cycled around and ate yakitori. Perfect way to settle into the next part of our trip.
After getting the train, then bus, and walking around (happy I downloaded the Kyoto Google map before leaving), we made it to our second Airbnb place. It didn’t disappoint. I imagine this is your typical Japanese house and I really loved it. I took a tour video which you can find below. It was so neat with nice features I thought I’d be happy living in a place like this. The place came with pocket wifi and bicycles to help with our exploring.
We explored the vicinity of the house, spotting places to try for eating later. We were in a residential area with a number of small places to eat, and somewhat near a cute rail railway (single carriage trains!). We were hungry but like most things in Japan, we looked at too many places before we decided to wander into a cosy looking izakaya/yakitori bar type place. I’m always apprehensive when I go into unfamiliar places, not wanting to stress out the staff due to language issues. This place was great though, cosy, warm lively and only space at the counter. We tried lots of skewered dishes by basically pointing and I think Romana recognised a few Japanese characters from school, so it was all good.
Full and happy, we cycled back home, stopping by a Lawson for breakfast stuff. At the house we did some, laundry, cleaned up in the space toilet, then got into our futons for a long-needed rest.
I was so excited by this house, I made a (much too long) video tour:
