Day 3 of our 5-day, end of summer road-trip
Romana and I drove from Hwangdo to Gyeryongsan for the next part of our mini road-trip. The accommodation (pension) had a front garden that looked on to the mountain and where we’d have our barbecue later. It was a nice, reasonably priced place.
Next door was a tea house, also with a lovely garden and we dropped by for some traditional tea and snacks (and to tickle the dog’s belly). There was accommodation there too.
We drove to a nearby reservoir for a stroll. It was nice looking bit of water and would make a nice half-day hike going around. After that, we drove to a local supermarket to get our bbq food for later.
The weather was perfect for a barbecue and we had the garden to oursleves the first evening; the next evening there were a few other groups there, but not busy by any means. We had beef, pork and fish. I let Romana do the meat as I always end up over cooking it! Add a couple of bottles of red wine and an evening view of the mountain, and you’ve got a great evening.
