Hallasan Mountain National Park

Hallasan Mountain (한라산) is the literal centrepiece of Jeju island; on most days you catch glimpses of it in the distance while traveling around the island. It has five main trails.

Hallasan

To the peak: Only two trails go to the crater at the peak: Gwaneumsa (관음사), and Seongpanak (성판악). As of writing this (2024), you need to make reservations to use these routes on their website. I’ve been to the peak twice, once with my wife and another time alone.

The Eorimok, Yeongsil, and Donnaeko (어리목, 영실, 돈내코) trails are quite long and take you to an intersection and rest spot where you can view the west and south sides of the main crater from below it. I’ve done the Eorimok and Yeongsil trails.

The link to the Hallasan website has more information; select English in the language menu at the top to view an auto-translated version of the site.

You can also check out the AllTrails page of Hallasan hikes.

My trips to Jeju that feature Hallasan (in one way or another!)

I’ve been many times over the years and blogged about and photographed many of the trails. Take a look below:
