Romana and I took a trip to Namiseom Island (남이섬) in Gapyeong, north east of Seoul. It’s nice island accessible by ferry. It has interesting little displays, gardens and small woods. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops, plus accommodation.

We saw an ostrich then grabbed some Korean pancake (전) and some local makgeolli (막걸리) for lunch. Nice. The island is full of little trails and themed garden areas. There are large areas of grass to sit on to picnic on less damp days. There are also a few art galleries and large sculptures dotted around.

There surrounding area is geared towards the tourist traffic. After we were finished exploring the island, we took a taxi a short way up the main road to a pan grilled chicken (닭갈비) restaurant.
